I'm not talking our worst ever signing, as it would be the biggest thread in WHO history. I mean who is the player that you were most disappointed by, having expected so much more? For me it would be Lee Bowyer in the 02/03 season (when we went down). It wasn't that long before that he was shit-hot for Leeds, scoring some absolute crackers. I thought the bloke was a scumbag but would've overlooked it if he helped keep us up. But like the rest of the squad that season he was such a let down. Marginally better in his second spell though.
Benni McCarthy was another one where I thought if we could get his Blackburn form out of him we'd have a real striker on our hands. Zola genuinely (naively) believed he could. However his obsession for food shattered that hope.

I was the most disappointed with the Benni signing, not because I expected much from him, but because I knew he'd be shit before he arrived. I also remember it being a board pick and thinking it didn't bode well for our new owners.

I didn't expect much from McCarthy
It was made clear that Sam Allardyce wanted him out of Blackburn as he was too fat.

Freddie Ljungberg. at the time meant to be our breakthrough, brave new world , statement of intent signing. Turned out to be a worthless pansy. Fuck knows who did the due diligence on that one.

Robbie Keane is a good shout. Heard on a WHU podcast recently that he has bad memories of his time at the club and regretted joining us. Insult to injury considering he played like a total cunt whilst he was here.

Raduciou and Jiminez.
Whilst several mentioned already were clearly past their prime when they signed for us, these were two players with international pedigree in their mid twenties that we should have seen the best years of.
Unfortunately they turned out to be utter mince for us.
